Newton-in-Furness is a village just outside Dalton in Furness, the ancient capital
of Furness in Cumbria about 30 minutes away from the Lake District. It is the home
of the last deep iron ore mine in production in the Furness area the Woodbine Pit
, which went into liquidation in 1945.
